Keeping it simple.

The majority of my clients (if not all) are overthinkers. As perfectionists, their minds are wired to be constantly on. What are they thinking about? It might be:

  • How can I make this better?

  • What more should I be doing right now?

  • Is there a problem I need to solve?

  • What responsibilities am I forgetting?

  • And my favorite: What’s on my list?

It’s been years since I last wrote a blog post. I think the last one was during the height of the pandemic—when I "had more time." Since then, there have been so many moments, client sessions, thoughts, and conversations with colleagues that made me think, I should write a blog post about this.

So what’s kept me from writing? Honestly, the same thing I coach my clients through: perfectionism. I tend to overthink, and writing a blog post is an easy thing to overthink—especially when your brain works like mine.

But here’s what I’m reminding myself—and what I hope to remind you too: keep it simple.

Our minds naturally want to analyze, optimize, and perfect everything. That’s not a flaw—it’s just how we’re built. But sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause and ask:

  • Am I keeping this simple?

  • What does this really need to be?

  • How important is this to me?

If it’s not that important, scale it back. Make it easier. Simpler. Save your energy for the things that truly matter to you—the things you value most.
