Back-to-school season means early mornings, long school days, homework, practices, games, and busy schedules. For student-athletes, food is an important part of keeping up with all of it.
The goal isn't to eat perfectly. It's to fuel consistently so you have the energy to focus in class, perform at practice, and recover afterward.
Here’s a simple guide to help you build balanced meals and snacks throughout your school day.

Start With the Basics
Think of your daily fueling around five simple goals:
Eat breakfast to start your day with energy.
Eat consistently instead of going long periods without food.
Include carbohydrates to fuel your brain and working muscles.
Include protein throughout the day to support muscle repair and recovery.
Stay hydrated by drinking fluids regularly.
You don't need complicated meals or specialty foods. Simple, familiar foods can provide excellent fuel for student-athletes.
